Innes Building & Timber Merchants Ltd - was formed in April 2002 and commenced trading from the former J.B. Fraser timber yard in Wood St, Grangemouth. The purpose built trade centre is on a 1.5 acre site offering an extensive range of building, timber, joinery, landscaping and DIY products.

IBT offers a fast-track HIAB delivery service throughout Central Scotland for stock items.  For non-stock items and specialist products IBT will make every effort to source and deliver the material quickly and competitively.

With so many colours, shapes, textures and accessories to choose form, its little wonder that the endless scope of block paving looks that can be achieved has made this technique one of the most popular ways of transforming a property today.

Designer's Tip

When choosing from the broad range of colour options available take time to consider the colours in your surroundings.  Buildings, walls, fencing and plants all contribute to the overall colour balance and a clever choice of paving can add the finishing touch. Colour can also give an impression of depth. 

Cool colours such as blues, mauves and dark green, are often used in planting to give the visual impression of distance.  The same technique can be employed be using cool grey or charcoal coloured paving.

Designer's Tip

Laying gravel in your garden is a cheap way to transform your outdoor space and has quick and effective results.

Consider what your area is to be used for and select the gravel size accordingly. Really small gravel tends to be too fine for areas that will have to cope with lots of foot traffic, as it will spread too easily. However, larger gravels can be uncomfortable underfoot.

All buildings are pre-treated with quality water based wood preservative prior to delivery. To ensure longevity we recommend a top coat upon installation, and annually thereafter. Timber is a natural product, subject to changes caused by environmental conditions, to minimise contraction and expansion it is essential to maintain your building.

All timber sizes are nominal, before machining unless stated. All building dimensions shown are approximate, based on external wall sizes, allowances should be made for roof overhangs when locating your building in a confined space. All glass used is 3mm horticultural unless otherwise stated.

Planning Your Deck

There are a number of aspects you should take into consideration when planning your deck.

Will it be functional, decorative or both? As an alternative to a traditional paved patio, it needs to be large enough to allow comfortable use of seating, patio tables and chairs. Will the deck be at ground level or elevated? Check the depth and positions of underground pipes, cables and services.  Positions of inspection chambers and manhole covers should also be considered when designing and planning your deck. Will the deck be used for privacy or as a focal point?  Do you want to make the most of the sun or use the deck for shade? Reflected heat off a South facing wall will turn a cool deck into a warm one.  Trees provide cool shade in summer and warmth in winter for south facing decks.
